Professional Experience

Over these past 30+ years Rick has developed and refined a wealth management process for families to assist them with achieving their financial goals so they can enjoy their wealth and ultimately share it with those they love.
He has developed a panoramic understanding for the many pieces of the financial puzzle and has developed a methodical approach to asset and risk management

Education 

  • Beginning his investment career at Bank of America Rick received his Municipal Securities Underwriting Principal License then moved on to West Bank constructing its Industrial Revenue Bond portfolio and working with the Trust area as well as individuals.
  • Rick is recognized as an expert in regards to Direct Participation Programs such as Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), Business Development Companies (BDC's)  and Tax Deferred Real Estate Exchanges (1031's).
  • Rick graduated from Valley High School then attended Central College in Pella receiving his degree in Business and Economics.  He then did his graduate work at The University of Iowa in Finance and Real Estate.

Rick and his wife Diane have raised 3 daughters.  Their families have been a part of Des Moines and it's growth for over 100 years.  Rick has a passion for history and its effect on life and culture. Civil War economic history and artifacts are areas of study as well as, the actual coins and National Bank Notes used during the period.  Classic cars, he owns 5, have fascinated Rick since his father, a former Packard assemblyman, found a '47 Rick drove in high school and owned for 30 years.  Rick has also enjoyed for the past 25  years  riding with English style foxhunts with his wife and daughters.

Service and community involvement has been in the forefront of Ricks life since he was young.  He tries to split this time between Social, Health and Cultural causes. Having been board member of Children's and Families of Iowa, The American Cancer Society, and The Salisbury House Foundation among others.
